Any measure of measure of restraint used in these circumstances must be proportionate and in place for no longer than is necessary to manage the immediate risk. In such situations, staff should use their professional judgement, supported by their knowledge of each child's risk assessment, an understanding of the needs of the child and an understanding of the risks the child faces. Professional judgements may need to be taken quickly. |
